Happy New Year's Eve Eve!

Texas Hold'em Poker Winner
Add caption

Sad to see us have the final tournament for 2016, but that means that 2017 is nearly here!

14 players tonight playing for the usual cash, but also up for grabs for the winner there was a nights accommodation at the Scenic Circle for New Year's Eve!

The battle for the cash and the hotel stay ended up being between Kevin A., Alex G., and Morgan S. with Chris S. only just missing out on the prizes.

Alex finished in third, after being a formidable opponent for so long. He eventually lost his chips to Morgan after being pushed all-in with A10 and Morgan an AJ. The board came out 68247 but with four Spades on the board only Morgan had the fifth to make the flush.

Kevin and Morgan played heads up for a long time, neither of them willing to give in.

Eventually though Morgan went all-in after flopping a set and Kevin called with a two-pair. The turn and the river worked in Kevin's favour giving him the straight over Morgan's three-of-a-kind.

It was Kevin's chance to take the final bragging rights for 2016, well done!

Enjoy the rest of 2016, and we'll see you all next year!

Lady Luck Strikes Again

We had 20 people turn up for this weeks Wednesday 6-max Hold'em Tournament, all fighting for their share of over $1600. Off to a quick start, we were soon to three tables.

Final table proved to be fierce, but only the top four were paid. They were Chris S, Adam M, Charlotte B and Will D.

Chris was the first to declare defeat. All-in with K-Q, Adam calling with pocket 4s. Nothing but a pair of 8s on the board, so Adam's two-pair was enough to steal Chris' chips.

There was a lot of back-and-forward wins between Will and Adam. But it was Charlotte that delivered the fatal blow to Will. Charlotte pushing all-in with A-K, Will called with 7-8. Board was 4-10-J-K-K and Charlotte's Trip-Ks put her well in the lead.

After a while of steady heads-up play, Adam pushed all-in after the flop of K-10-8. With 7-10, his pair looked ok against Charlotte's J-Q. Charlotte was gunning on her open-ender, but all it took was a J on the turn and she claimed another victory.

Congratulations

Final Tournament Before Christmas

We had 25 players come out for the last tournament before Christmas, the pot reached over $2,000.

Top 4 We had: Charlotte, Karl. Alex the Peasant Maynard and Chris R.

Karl took 4th place home when he was taken out by Chris. Karl pushed with JQ and he was called by Chris with pocket 6's. The race ran out: 5 3 8 9 8.

Next knockout hand: Chris bets 8k, he gets raised to 18k by Alex, Chris retaliates with a raise to 28k, Alex pushes... Chris calls. (must be pretty nice hands right?) Alex had flopped top set and Chris had flopped the nuts (straight). Alex with 10 10, Chris holding 8 9, 10 6 7 out on the board. A 4 on the turn and an 8 on the river. The board failed to pair, the straight holds on for Chris.

Heads up was a friendly game of chip exchange until we got to the final hand. Chris pushed pre-flop with A 6 and got called by Charlotte with Q Q. Chris didn't get any further than an open-ender with the board provided.. J 5 4 3 4.

Well done to all who ca$hed this week, also a very merry Christmas from the Poker staff at Dunedin Casino :)

King Karl Rules Again!

Texas Hold' Em Tournament Wednesday Dunedin

A good tournament tonight, 24 players making a prize pool of just under $2,000. A few players sneaking in just before the end of the rebuy period.

It took a while to reach the final table, not getting there until just after 11pm. No one was willing to give in too easily.

Cash prizes for the top four meant that Greg S., Ray W., Sam C., and Karl R. were battling it out for spots.

Going in Karl and Greg were big stacks, but unfortunately it wasn't long until Karl gave most of it to Greg. Karl raised to 18k pre-flop and then Greg raised all-in to which Karl called. Greg had A10 suited and Karl pocket 7's. The board came out AQ45A giving Greg a set and giving him a nice double up.

It didn't take long for Karl to bounce back though. After stealing a few pots he had built up his chips a little. Sam went all-in with 15.3k and which Karl called and then Ray raised all-in also and Karl again called. Both Ray and Sam were holding A's but it was Karl K that paired. Giving him 2 pair on the board. It meant that both Ray and Sam were knocked out.

So then it was down to Greg and Karl. After a short while of heads up play Karl was big blind, and Greg min-raised to which Karl called. After the flop of 235 came out Greg went all-in and Karl called. The remaining cards were 10 8 which gave Karl two pair 8's and 5's and Greg unfortunately missed the straight he was chasing.

So Karl took out the top prize, well done!

Thank you to everyone who took part. Join us next week for one of the last tournaments before 2017!

$hum Slays Final Table

Dunedin Casino, Poker, Weekly Wednesday, 6-Max, Texas Hold'em, Tournament

We had 21 players this week and a prizepool just shy of $1,900.

Final table was going quite slowly until $hum got to work, increasing his big stack with a double knockout. The remainder of the table was quite excited when they realized that Chris had got them into the ca$h. We had; Chris, Brendan, Ray and Greg as the last four standing (sitting).

Chris took Brendan's chips with an A5 when he flopped a pair and held up.

Greg pushed and got the snap from $hum with his pocket 9's vs Greg's J8. It looked good for Greg on the flop; Q 6 J. The turn and river were not quite as friendly, K on the turn and a T on the river. Despite the swing in power, the best hand won in the end, Chris with a straight to the K.

Ray (with a severe small stack) pushed all in blind on the BB. Chris called with KJ against the blind K4. J 2 2 K T on the table, Chris took the pot and 1st place out with Three pair.

Thanks to everyone for an exciting tournament and well done to those who made it till the cash.

Chris takes out Final Deepstack of the year!

The last Deepstack for the year saw 19 players chasing a piece of the $3600 prizepool, and the final four today were Martin, Chris, Pete and Clark.

Martin finished fourth when he went all in with AQ up against Pete with A7.  With neither players hitting on the flop or the turn it came down to the river.  Pete paired his 7 to knock Martin out and add valuable chips to his stack.

Next to push was Clarke with 56 of diamonds in his hand.  Chris looks at his cards to see AA and has one of the easiest calls he has had to make all day.  The flop 3J4 gives Clark an open ender, turns a 6 and gives Clark more outs but the river is an Ace and seals Clarks fate.

Down to the final two Pete and Chris, who pass the blinds back and forth for a while before deciding to call it a day and pursue a cash game.  They shove for bragging rights and Chris draws a QT against Pete's 63... and the final board of the day comes... T A K 4 2!

A big thank-you to all the players, and congratulations to our winners.

Next up in December is the Weekly Wednesday 6-Max Rebuy, and look out for more Sunday tournaments to come in 2017!

Ray is the Champion!

Dunedin Casino Poker Texas Hold'em Winner

A great turnout for the tournament tonight, with some new faces trying their luck. 26 players ensured that there were cash prizes for the top four finishers and there was over $2,000 in the prize pool!

Peter R. bubbled today, just missing out on some of the cash. His all-in was called by Chris R. who managed to achieve the straight on the river to beat Peter who had flopped a pair.

From here on, everyone was in the money. Chris S. was narrowly chip leader, closely followed by Greg S., Tim N., and Ray W.

Ray took Tim for most of his stack by getting a flush on the river and the next the hand Greg raised to 20k pre-flop which pushed Tim all in. Greg had pocket 7's and Tim K5, Three clubs on the flop and a fourth on the turn was good for Greg who had the fifth club in his hand and knocking Tim out.

From here Greg was chip leader and he used his chips to gradually diminish the others' stacks. Soon though Ray challenged Chris with an all-in. Ray had pocket 6's and they held all the way to the end leaving Chris with 2k.

Chris was all-in next hand and again Ray had the lead from the flop finishing with 2 pair and Chris finished in 3rd.

It was pretty evenly matched for a while between Ray and Greg. But all it takes is a few good hands!

It was pretty quiet pre-flop with no one raising, and after the flop Greg bet 30k and Ray min-raised. Greg then went all-in and Ray quickly called. Greg had K6 and Ray AQ. The cards were 10 K J 4 2 giving Ray the straight right from the start.

From then on Greg, couldn't hold too much longer, and a few hands later another all-in situation determined the winner. Ray took out the top spot with a K, Greg chasing a straight that didn't quite eventuate.

It was a good tournament, and thanks to everyone who participated!

Join us on Friday for the last chance to win a seat in to our Deepstack Tournament this weekend (4th Dec). See you there!

Karl too strong for them all

This evenings tournament was a long one! 24 players making a nice a tidy prize pool of just shy of $2,000! However, many players weren't willing to miss out on an opportunity to recieve a portion of the prize pool and the final table wasn't reached until the second break.

After a quick break to regather their strength, they played on until finally we had five players left. With cash going to the final four, no one wanted to be the bubble. Eventually though, it was Ross. He didn't give up easily though and put up a tough fight. Well done.

The final four were Sam C., Greg S., Martin K., and Karl R. They were all pretty evenly matched with chips kept moving from player to player. Karl though was gradually managing to increase his stack to become chip leader.

Karl was the one to knock out everybody tonight. A three-way all in decided the third and fourth place getters.

The all-in was between Martin, Greg and Karl who had Q9, 95 and 10 9 respectively. Martin going all in pre-flop and Greg and Karl called. When the flop came out 10 5 3, Karl raised 20k which pushed Greg all-in also. The remaining cards were 4K and Karl's pair of 10s held and Martin finished fourth and Greg third.

Sam and Karl were heads up and it wasn't long before the final result was decided. Sam called Karl's big blind in the dark. Karl then raised all-in and Sam after checking his cards, called. Karl had pocket 5's and Sam had pocket 4's. The board did nothing for either of them and Karl's pair held allowing him to take first place. Well done!

It was a great tournament tonight, don't forget to join us this Friday for a $10 Turbo Tournament to win a seat into the next Deepstack Tournament on December 4th.

Wet Wednesday 6-Max

Texas Holdem, Poker, Dunedin Casino, Weekly Wednesday

Tonight we had a turnout of 19 players for the Weekly Wednesday 6-Max.

In the top 4 and the cash were: Ryan, Karl, Mau and Ross.

Ryan was out first, taken out by Karl. Ryan pushed it all-in pre with AT(spades), he was called by A9(clubs). It was looking good for Ryan when the board flopped 3 diamonds. Sadly for Ryan, the turn was not as pleasant, a 9. The pair was good enough to hold up at the river for Karl.

Ross got it all in pre, 33 vs K4 for a flip. T 4 A 4 4, as if the pair of fours wasn't hard enough to beat, two more on the turn and river secured Karl the win and the four of a kind 4's.

Karl and Mau got to the flop before the chips went in, Mau pushed on the 6 K 6 board, Karl called. Mau was playing Ace high with his A2, Karl must have struggled to contain himself, flopping a boat with K6. 6 K 6 4 T.

Thank you to everybody who made the effort to venture out in the rain tonight.

A big thumbs up to Karl, four of a kind and a full-house on a short handed table.

Kirby takes out the November Deepstack!

Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament Winner

We had a good turnout for the November Deepstack tournament today! We started it a little earlier this time at 12pm, so it didn't run too late into the evening. There were 22 players, and at the end of the addon period there was over $3,500 in the prize pool!

There must have been a memo that went around as many of the players were sporting sunglasses and it can't have been too easy to read the cards!

The final table was reached shortly before the third break, with Chris S. as chip leader heading in. Nine players on the final table and prizes for the top four, it meant that no one was willing to give up their chips too easily.

Andrew A. unfortunately lost a large portion of his stack to Brendan N. Brendan went all in and Andrew called. Andrew flopped a pair of K but Brendan had pocket A. Another A on the turn gave Brendan the set.

A few hands later though, Brendan had some of bigger chip stack taken off when he lost a pot to Kirby.

Brendan was run down by Jeff M. who had AJ and Brendan had AK. The AK wasn't good enough as Jeff got the boat with J's full. Jeff was also the one to take Andrew out of the tournament.

Chris' stack had dwindled but he was slowly working on building it back and both he and Kirby had the most chips when it came down to the final four.

Fighting it out for the glory was Kirby M., Chris S., Bryn N., and Jeff M. With Kirby and Chris pretty equal in their big stacks. A few spectators even gathered around to find out who would be the winner.

Bryn unfortunately was the first to go in fourth place. All in against Jeff pre-flop, but the flop was in Jeff's favour and gave him the flush. And there was no hope for Bryn.

Jeff finished third going all in pre-flop and Kirby called. Jeff had 10 9 suited and Kirby has K10. With J's on the board Kirby wins with the higher kicker. This left Kirby and Chris in the race.

Not long after the winner was decided.  After previously already stealing most of his stack, Kirby had KQ and Chris had A7. After the flop Chris was leading with pair. The board was 7 5 9 10 J, with both the turn and river working in Kirby's favour to give her the straight.

Kirby took out the top prize. Well done!

Next week, we will have our regular Wednesday 6-Max Tournament and on Friday we will begin the $10 Turbo Satellite's in to our next Deepstack Tournament!

The next one is in three weeks time on December 4th. Keep an eye out for updates.

Old Dog does it again. Again...

Texas Hold'Em Wednesday Night Tournament Winner

Tonight's tournament was a little quieter tonight, but it made for some great poker hands. With 23 players, there were four players fighting it out for a portion of the cash. Which was over $1,500!

At the first break, we also gave away a double pass to this weekend's Craft Beer and Food Festival. Everyone who had entered the tournament was able to get their name in the draw. The lucky recipient was Tim N!

The final four players looking for glory were Chris R., Ronnie M., Tim N. and Ray N.

At first it was looking like Ronnie was going to be the first to leave. Coming in as short stack, he was repeatedly forced all in pre-flop. But he managed to hold his ground and increase his stack. Once even managing to flop trip 8's and getting the full house on the river.

Tim was unfortunately the first to go. Going all in pre-flop, Ray was the only one to call. Ray had pocket 5's but the flop came out 10 K 4 and Tim had the higher pair with 10's. Another 5 on the turn sealed the deal for Tim who couldn't beat Ray's trip 5's.

After a short while of three-handed play, Ronnie managed to double up again and Chris used his big stack to his advantage to scare off any possible challengers. A quick all-in situation sorted out our top three places.

Ray had 96 off-suit, Ronnie had AQ suited and Chris 65 suited. Chris flopped the straight with 84742 on the board. And from there he held on to the lead and made the flush on the river. Thereby taking it all. Ronnie finished in second with a pair of 4's with an A kicker. Ray unfortunately was third with the lower kicker.

It was a great tournament tonight, well done to everyone who entered.

Join us on Friday for our $10 Turbo Satellite Tournament for the chance to win a seat into our next Deepstack tournament which is going to be held this Sunday (Nov 13th) at 12:30pm.

Darso finishes on a high note...

Dunedin Casino Poker Wednesday

Good turnout for the tournament tonight. 25 players creating a prize pool of over $2000! It was slow going to find the final table as no one was want to let anyone else have the upper hand. Eventually though we had our players battling it out for the cash.

We had four prizes to give away and the contenders were Karl R, Dan S, Shane R, Chris S.

After a few distractions from the WSOP final table (Nguyen won...), Karl went all in pre-flop and Dan was quick to call. Karl's J 10 off-suit wasn't able to keep Dan at bay.  An A on the river unfortunately sealed the deal and Karl finished in fourth place.

To keep things interesting, a short while later Chris went all in pre-flop to take on Dan, who quickly called. Dan was leading intitially but on the turn Chris managed a pair with a K kicker and that was enough to double him up.

Shane was finished in third place. Dan raising pre-flop to push Shane all in. Dan had A10 and Shane J7. KQ8K6 was the board, and Dan's kicker was enough to steal the pot.

Dan and Chris were playing for the glory. It's Dan's last tournament in Dunedin for a while so Chris didn't want to give him the satisfaction of winning his last one.

Eventually though, an all-in pre-flop by $ugar with KQ was called by Darso with 10 8. Unfortunately for $ugar, the flop was 976 giving Darso the nuts, and runner runner 9's couldn't save him.

Good tournament tonight Team, don't forget to join us on Friday for our Turbo Satellite to win a seat in to our next Deepstack on November 13th!

Old Guy Gets Lucky Again

Tonight we had 27 players come to battle it out for the prizes with a prize pool just short of $2000.

Congratulations to the top four taking home some $$$: Chris, Jesse, Jeff and Lewis.

Jesse went all in with K9 clubs against Chris with 67 of clubs. Out came 6TAJJ and not enough clubs to save Jesse from going home.

Next saw Chris with K9 against Lewis with pocket 7's. Chris hit trip kings and after a quick count up Lewis was left with $3,500 and forced all in next hand. He doubled up,  though was still without enough chips was forced all in again with J9 against Jeff's K6. Jeff hit the straight and Lewis was left to take home third place.

Down to the final two Chris was all in with J4 and Jeff with A2. 98QJ9 and two pair of J's and 9's was enough for Chris to take it out two weeks in a row. What a great effort!

Thanks to everyone who took part tonight and we hope to see you next week!

Massive No Limit Freezeout!

Dunedin Casino Texas Holdem freezeout depstack

Excellent turnout today for the Tournament. Starting at 2pm so it didn't clash with the Blackjack Tournament that was also running for the long weekend, the remaining seats filled up very quickly.

With 30 players and a prize pool of over $5,000 we assigned the cash to the top 5 finishers and with over $2,000 for first place!

With steady dealing all afternoon, the final table was reached around 6:30 and some players who'd busted out earlier getting together to get the cash game rolling.

6th place, although it wasn't assigned a prize, the top 5 were generous enough to put in $30 each as a bubble prize (buy-in back)

Once bubble was determined, 5th was taken out soon after, Jeff was beaten by Jacque's AK.

4th place went to Rayel, he was called by Greg. Rayel went all-in with J8 vs Greg's A9. Ace high was good enough to hold up when neither player synced with the board of: 4 T Q 5 7.

Greg, with his new found chips went on the aggressive, he raised to $30k, Andy went all-in. Greg had AJ vs Andy's A3. The Board played out: 4 2 2 9 9, A near escape for Andy, splitting the pot. Soon after the to got it all in, Greg called Andy's shove. Andy with QT, Greg with A8. Greg hit an 8 on the turn for the knockout: 5 6 2 8 J.

With very similar stacks, final two made a deal to play for $1,600 each and play it out for the glory and the extra $300. Heads up played out for about half an hour between Jacque and Greg. The final hand of the Tournament, Greg got it all-in pre and was called by Jacque. Greg final hand, the noble AK, Jacque with KJ. In the end, Greg managed a straight by the end of the hand (Ace high was also good). 5 3 4 5 2. Well done Greg!

Thank you to everyone who made the effort to turn up to the freezeout. Keep an eye out on the blog for upcoming tournaments.

Chris Cleans up Short Handed

Weekly Wednesday Poker Dunedin Casino $20 Texas Holdem
This Wednesday 17 Poker Players ventured through the rain to play. We had a prizepool of just over $1,600.

Top 3 went to: Chris R, Rayel and Ross.

Chris raised to $10k against Rayel, Chris faced an all-in bet in retaliation, he looked down to a couple of Rockets and had an easy call. Hole cards: AA vs AT. The flop wasn't without a sweat for Chris: T 5 5, Q and 2 on the turn and river secured Chris' the pot, and the knockout.

Ross and Chris played it out heads-up. The final hand was quite similar to Rayel's last. Chris raised to $10k and Ross shoved into him, Chris called. Another monster hand for Chris, AK against Ross' A8. 9 J 9 K 8, Chris secured the win with the King on the turn.

Thanks to everyone who ventured from the comfort of home to play.

Karl on a Hot Streak

We had a great turnout to our Wednesday No-Limit Hold'em Tournament with 25 people all eager to get their hands on their share of the prize pool that got to almost $2000.

The play was fairly aggressive as the three tables quickly got down to two. The final table was just as brutal at times. Ryan got down to one $100 chip but managed to hang on a while. At the final table, he was all-in for $400 and was leading at the turn with a pair of 6's, however a 7 on the river gave the other player a pair of 7's and Ryan was out. A valiant effort nonetheless.

The top four were paid tonight. They were Karl R, Gary T, Rayel N and Nick K.
Nick was the first to go all-in. Holding A-7, Karl called with Q-8. The board was 9-10-J-6-5 giving Karl the straight on the turn.

Gary was next to try his luck, all-in with J-7. Karl again called. He had K-4. Q-8-A-3-10 and it only came down to the high-card.

Karl was quick to strike again while the iron was hot. Rayel was all-in with 6-2(d), Karl had Q-5(c). Flop was 7(d)-6(c)-7(c) so Rayel still had a shot at runner-runner, but the board turning the K(c) gave Karl the flush and tournament win. Karl played so well, he was able to knock out the three others in about a 15 minutes period.

Congratulations to our Winners.

Join us on Friday as we are giving away seats to the October Deep-stack Tournament in our Fun-Friday Satellite. One seat will be guaranteed. See you there!

Biggest Winner, Biggest Grinner

22 Players in the Wednesday 6-max this week. A prizepool of over $1,800 lead to a fairly slow final table.

the last 4 standing (sitting) were: Morgan, Ross, Gavin and Sammy.

After surviving the bubble, Gavin was taken out on his BB by Sammy. Sammy pushed him all in pre-flop, Gavin with Q3, Sam with AK. Sammy paired up on the flop, K 5 6 6 8.

Ross and Sammy went to the flop before it all went in. Ross instigated the betting on a 3 8 4 flop. Sammy called Ross' bet and they both revealed pocket pairs; Sammy with 77, Ross with AA! Two hearts as the final community cards (total 4)left both players a wee bit speechless. Sammy was lucky enough to have the 7 of hearts, Ross' Aces, not so lucky.

Morgan was all in against Sammys stack, Morgan had the dog hand, K9, Sam with AQ. Morgan had the lead until the river delivered Sammy an Ace. 6 9 8 J A.

Well done Sammy, treat yourself to a perm!

GT the Friendly Shark takes the PLO Victory.

It was our last Thursday tournament for a while. We had 12 people turn up, all playing to win their share of the prize pool which got to over $1000.
Our top three places were paid. They were Gary T, James H and Sammy C. Sammy was all-in shortly after knocking out the bubble. He had 3-6-Q-Q. James called with A-9-7-Q. The board showed J-J-K-10-7 and James took the hand turning the straight.

Gary was all-in and ending up winning with a pair of Q's which shifted him to top stack. So next hand James was all-in blind. He had 6-K-J-4, Gary had 9-8-J-8. Board of 7-7-9-A-9 gave Gary the set and the victory. He will remain PLO champion for a while as we say goodbye to Thursday Tournaments for a while.

We have a lot coming up in the way of satellites and deep-stack tournaments so keep your eyes peeled for all the info.

Nick Sneaks in for the Win!

Dunedin Casino Weekly Poker Tournament Winner

Monster turnout out tonight for the tournament creating a prize pool of over $2,000!

Giving a cash prize to the top four, tonight we had Chris R, Julian B, Matt L and Nick K.

After a short while of friendly play and the blinds going up, suddenly we had a four way all in. Nick took out the main pot with a flush and Chris picked up the rest with two pair. And unfortunately left Nick and Julian behind to finish in third and fourth place respectively.

The same tactic was tried a short while later with Nick going all in pre-flop, and Chris quickly called with pocket 8s. Nick had K7 and a K on the flop sealed the deal for him, beating Chris' 8's. Well done, Nick!

It was a great tournament tonight, with a few new faces trying their luck.

Join us tomorrow for the final Thursday Tournament for a while. Pot Limit Omaha, what a treat!

Short and Sweet

We had a modest turnout to our Pot-Limit Omaha tournament tonight, all after their share in the $750 prize pool.

We were quick to get down to the final four, but only the top two were paid. They were Michael T and James H.

James was short-stack for a while, but a few "pot" calls and an all-in, he crept his way back. Now short-stack, Michael went all-in with 6-Q-J-10. James called with K-K-A-2. The board was 10-4-5-5-7 and James' Ks took out the tournament.

Join us next week for our 6-Max tournaments, kicking of at 7:45pm on Wednesday and Thursday.

Peasant Ascends. Weekly Wednesday 6-Max

20 Players came to play the Wednesday 6-Max this week, the prizepool finished up, just over $1,600.

Top 4 this week, we had: Martin, Alex the Peasant,$ugar $hum and GT.

4th went to Gary. Blinds became valuable and he was unlucky to bump into Martin's strong hand. Gary pushed and was called by Martin, 42 vs AJ. T Q A 7 Q came out on the board.

3rd went to $ugar $hum. Chris pushed pre with A4, he was called by Alex with a big stack and QT. Ace high didn't hold up once a T came on the turn. 5 2 J T 6.

Top 2 were Martin and Alex the Peasant. Their stacks were quite similar in size, a deal was made, both players went all in blind. Alex managed to score a nice hand, 88 vs 74 in the dark.  5 A 4 came out on the flop, the Peasant scored an 8 on the turn (giving him a set, Martin the gut-shot). 3 on the river sealed the deal for Alex.

A big well done to Alex, we are sure his loyal fans at #peasantpoker will be over the moon with this result. 3 thumbs up!

Our PLO Debut Winner

We had 13 people turn up for the long awaited Pot Limit Omaha Tournament, all fighting for their share of the $1200 prize pool. The final table was quickly formed, but lasted a while with conservative play.

We had three runners who were paid. They were Danny W, Phillip K and Matt S.
The first one to bite the dust was Danny. All-in pre-flop with 8-J-Q-5, Phillip called with A-4-Q-3. The board showed 7-A-10-4-2 so Phillips 2-pair was good enough.

The stacks were very even between Phillip and Matt. Phillip - all-in with K-4-4-J - was called by Matt who had 2-5-Q-8. The board was 3-3-Q-7-5. Matt won with 2-pair and had Phillip only just covered in chips.

Congratulations to all our winners.
We continue next week with same two tournaments. We'll see you there.

GT making it look easy...

Texas Hold'em Poker Weekly Tournament

The tournament this evening was a good one with 23 players and a prize pool of over $2000! Slowly though, the tournament was whittled down to the final four players. Each playing for a piece of the prize money. The lucky four were Ryan C, Ryan H, Daniel S and Gary T.

It didn't take long for the friendly rivalries to go out the door and they were playing for the money, The first to go was Ryan H. Calling GT's all in with 75 against an A5 for GT. The flop was 66K and a 4 on the turn gave Ryan and open ender. But a 10 on the river unfortunately sealed his fate, as he had the lower kicker.

Next GT took on Dan flopping a pair of Queens. Dan's pocket Jacks just couldn't catch up. Leaving Dan in third place.

After about 10 minutes of pretty low key heads up play, GT and Ryan C took each other on.GT had QJ whereas Ryan had 98. Again GT paired Queens on the flop, which dominated over Ryan C and he took out the top spot. Congratulations!

It was a great night, with lots of great poker being played. Join us tomorrow night for the long awaited Pot Limit Omaha tournament. $20 entry, with unlimited rebuys and a triple addons.

Come down and try your luck!

Charlotte Takes All: $ugar Pipped at the Post

Dunedin Casino Poker Tournament

The tournament tonight was the final Freezeout Tournament, and there was lots of great hands being played.

Charlotte, Alex and Chris were out final three this week, all taking home cash prizes.

Alex went home in third when he came up against Charlotte. JJ against A8, Charlotte flopped a gut-shot with 6 5 4 out on the table, a two on the turn and an Ace on the river to sneak the pot for Charlotte, hitting her over card.

Chris and Charlotte played it out for the glory (Chris going for two wins in a row). After some heads up play and swapping of Chips, it got down to the nitty gritty with the final hand. Chris has K8, Charlotte has TT. Chris hits his under card on the flop, Q 8 3. Holding out for an Eight or a King, Chris finds himself empty handed when a 7 and a 9 come on the turn and then the river.

Charlotte takes out another freezeout, and next week we will be switching it up to an Omaha tournament.

Be sure to join us next week on Wednesday and Thursday for some great tournaments.

$ugar $hum, King of the Table.

texas holdem, poker, dunedin casino, weekly wednesday, 6-max, $20

In our 6-max tournament tonight, we had 20 Players and a prize-pool just shy of $1,900.

Top four came down to: Ryan, Chris S, Ben and Gary.

Ryan went home with 4th prize after losing the majority of his stack a few hands prior to Ben. Ryan was UTG on his final hand and he went all in for just under a BB. Ben limped in, but was quickly punished by Chris who raised all in, causing a fold. Ryan had picked up AK and Chris had A7. cards up, dealer dealt out 7 A 6 J 2. A solid two pair to Chris secured him the pot.

Chris found himself with the strong Ace when he called Gary's all in, AK vs A5. Once again, Chris flopped two pair; K 4 A 9 T. After the flop there were not many outs for Gary and Chris' hand held up, securing him in the final two, and the chip lead.

Heads up was between Chris and Ben. They played out for around 15 minutes before the match concluded. The chips went all in pre, Ben with K5, Chris with QJ. Chris hit his Jack on the flop, the poker gods smiled upon $ugar $hum and they held up. J 7 3 7 4.

Well done!

Dylan's determination takes it out!

Dunedin Casino Freeze-Out Poker Tournament

Tonight's tournament was a small one, but by no means was it a quick one! Everyone who participated was there to for the glory!

In the end though, we were left with only three people trying to claim the cash which was available for first and second. Initially Greg G. was chip leader, though gradually it was a new-comer Dylan R. who took over.

Ray W. narrowly missed out on the second place and finished third. After going all in blind with Q8, Dylan called with A4. The flop was 553 and a K and 2 on the turn and river. It left Dylan with a straight and Ray out of the race.

Greg and Dylan played heads up for a while, until an all in call ended with Dylan narrowly beating Greg with two K's and 9's against Greg's K's and 7's.

It was a great tournament tonight, don't forget to join us next week for our tournaments on Wednesday and Thursday!

Peace out.

Alex Takes out the 6-Max.

Dunedin casino poker, weekly Wednesday, $20 rebuy 6-max

Tonight we had a solid turnout, 26 Players and a prize-pool of over $2,100, for the $20 R&A Weekly 6-max tournament.

Top four got paid, this week we had: Kirby, Alex McC, Chris R and Ryan H.

Fourth place went home with Chris R. He went out with big pocket J's. JJ vs Ryan's QT, Chris shoved into Ryan's pre-flop raise. The board flopped a Queen, leaving Chris under 10%. The turn was no use, pairing the board. Neither Jack arrived on the river. 8 Q 6 8 9.

The deck had a sense of humor and saw Ryan with pocket J's the very next hand. They continued to be unlucky and gave Alex a double up.

Kirby's chips fluctuated a lot during three way play. After a big loss, she was left with 6k chips all in against Alex, 42 against AQ. K K A 7 4 out on the table showed no remorse to the small stack. Well done on a solid third!

Heads up saw Alex and Ryan battle it out until the point where their stacks were almost identical for the final hand. Alex raised to $30k pre, Ryan pushed all in, Alex called. Ryan revealed AK and Alex showed his AT (surprisingly strong hands for 20BB in play). The flop looked good for Ryan: 5 4 Q. The turn, not so friendly, pairing Alex's T. No King on the river and Alex took out the main prize.

Thanks to everyone who came for a great night of poker!

Third time's a Charm

We had a modest turnout for the Thursday Freeze-out Tournament tonight with only 14 entries. But with special offer this week of a $1000 guaranteed prize pool, there was still some juicy prizes up for grabs.

We were very quick to make a final table, happening only one hand in after the first break.

The competition was fierce as everyone was targeting Mark N who was in hot pursuit of a Hatrick, however he made it to the top three along with Alex McC and Tumua I.

Tumua was the first to seal his fate; all-in with 10-5(c) up against Alex's A-8. The board was Q-K-9-Q-Q so Alex's A-high played and he upped his chip stack quite nicely.

An all-in win for Alex against Mark gave him a huge chip stack and Mark was left battling. Finally Mark went all-in with K-6, Alex called with K-8. Board was 10-7-10-5-2 and Alex's 2-pair with an 8-kicker won him the tournament (his first win after coming second the last two tournaments).

Congratulations to our winners.

Two in a Row for Karl!

Dunedin Casino Poker Tournament Winner

A great tournament tonight with a few new faces coming in to try their luck. The prize pool was over $2,300!

It took a long time to find out who would be making the final table with no one wanting to be the one that missed out. Cash prizes for the top four places, in the end the battle was between Jordan G, Greg D, Chris S and Karl R.

Unfortunately after the long lead up to the final table, the players fell away quickly with Chris S falling first. With a pair of three's on the board Jordan had the higher kicker. But Karl was quickly coming up the strongest.

Karl managed to pull a straight on the river to beat Greg's two pair to leave him in third place, Soon after Karl went all in with 85 against Jordan's K5. Karl lead all the way with 4385A on the board.

So Karl was able to take out the top spot two weeks in a row! Well done!

Join us tomorrow night for our $60 Freeze Out Tournament. It'll be a treat!

Mark Bolts to the Finish Line

Tonight we had 15 players battling it out for the $750 prize pool.
Congratulations to the final three Mark, Ryan and Alex.
First to make a move was Ryan going all in with QJ of diamonds, he finds a caller in Mark with A9. The cards come out 86K64 and Mark wins with a pair of sixes with an ace kicker.
Down to the final two, Mark has a pair of 5s and makes a raise, Alex shoves over the top with Q7 and Mark calls. Cards this time are 67974 with four diamonds, one of Marks 5s is a diamond and he wins for the second week in a row.
Can Mark take it out for a third time next week or will we have a new champ? Come down and find out!

Karl Knocks out the Competition.

poker dunedin casino tournament weekly wednesday 6-max six max

We had a total of 21 entries in the 6-max this week, the prizepool was a sinister $1,666.

Top 4 we had: Matt, Jordan, Ketch and Karl.

The final table went off to a slow start, but once it passed the bubble, it heated up.

Karl went up against Ketch with an Ace suited to hearts vs AJ off. Three hearts came out on the table and Karl got a substantial chip boost once he took out Ketch.

The very next hand, Karl went up against Matt. Karl had 98 and Matt had K3, 6 T 4 9 5 on the board gave Karl his pair of 9's which was enough to knock out one more.

Heads up play lasted about 25 minutes between Jordan and Karl. Chips moved around quite a bit until the final hand. Karl had Jordan's stack covered, the hands were a classic flip. Karl with pocket 3's, Jordan with QJ. 2 K 2 on the flop, gave Jordan extra outs. 5 on the turn gave a few more. There was no K, 5, Q or J on the river, so Karl's 3's held up.

Well done to Karl on his first cash on the 6-max structure!

Mark Moves in for the Win!

Dunedin Casino Poker Tournament Winner Freezeout Champion

Tonight's Freeze Out Tournament had 20 players with a $1000 prize pool. While Mark N managed to take out the top prize, he faced some tough competition to get there.

In the running for the prizes were Corey H, Jordan G, Alex McC, and Mark N.

Unfortunately, Corey was the first to go to take fourth place in an all in against Mark. Mark had 29 and Corey also had a 9. A 2 and a 9 came in on the flop giving Mark two pair, the turn and river were no help to Corey who was unable to catch up.

Not long after this Jordan was out also, so it was Alex and Mark heads up where it was a battle to get the upper hand.

Finally after several hands of all ins and calling and with the blind levels due to go up again, we managed to find our victor. Alex holding AJ and Mark K7. The cards came out 636Q7 leaving Mark with two pair, and taking out first place!

It was a great tournament tonight, and join us again next Wednesday and Thursday for more tournaments and be in to win some awesome prizes!

An Ace Effort by Alex

We had a reasonable turnout to our $20 6-Max Tournament tonight, with 18 players all fighting for their share of the money. A nice prize pool of over $1700 made for a pretty competitive game.

We had seven people on the final table, but our three prize winners were Alex M, Brendan N and Gary T.

Gary had a few bad beats on the final table. Calling an all-in with pocket As, up against pocket Js, the board rivered a J and made a huge dent in his stack. He tried to claw his way back but his all-in with Q-9 wasn't enough to beat Brendan's K-6 with a board of 8-A-6-J-4.

After a while of back-and-forward between Alex and Brendan, it was all over when Brendan was all-in with K-5. Alex had A-Q. Board was A-8-7-J-10 and Alex's pair of Aces claimed victory.
Congratulations to our winners.

We kick it off again Thursday night with another $60 Freeze-out Tournament. Registration up until the end of the first break.

Hot Poker for this Freeze-Out!

dunedin casino thursday tournament freeze-out

Tonight was a $60 Freeze-out Tournament. No rebuys, no addons, no re-entries.

With 26 entries, it was nearly 1am before the tournament wrapped up with a prize pool of $1300 divided among the final four players.

Tumua I. finished in fourth, when an all-in with J9 was beaten by Eva. A pair of K were on the board but Eva had the higher kicker. The final three were Bryn N. Eva L. and Sammy C. with both Bryn and Eva trying to knock Sammy from chip leader.

For a while it was difficult going. Eva calling Sammy's all-in with KK but unfortunately Sammy had flopped the straight. A few hands later it was returned when Sammy called Eva's all in but this time Eva had the better hand with two-pair.

Bryn wasn't going to give up easily either. Calling Eva's all-in pre-flop with A2 he unfortunately lost to K8, when the cards came out K4QQJ. Though he did manage to get one over on Sammy a few hands later with two pair 10's and 8's over Sammy's 10's and 6's, and another all-in later on achieving a straight on the river.

Eventually though, someone had to be third and that was Bryn when Eva had the higher kicker. Then a short while later Sammy finally managed to defeat Eva with JJ while Eva had 89 suited. A's on the flop ensured Sammy's victory and the flush didn't quite come through for Eva.

It was a great tournament tonight, and don't forget to join us next week with our tournaments on Wednesday and Thursday. Beginning at 7:45pm.

Jase with the Ace

We had a great turnout to our $20 6-Max Hold'em Tournament, with 24 people all fighting it out for their share of the money. Triple addons proved popular and it built the prize pool to a tasty $2000.

We had seven runners make it to the final table, but the top four were paid.
They were Chris K, Jason S, Lucy W and Greg S.

Lucy was low in chips and her blind and ante pushed her all-in and she decided to not look at her cards. Chris called her all-in with J-10, Jason calls with pocket 7s. Lucy's cards were 9-5. The board was Q-8-3-8-2 and Jason's 2-pair were enough to knock her out for 4th.

Jason climbed to chip leader, calling Chris' A-10(o) with A-10(d) and hit a runner runner flush.
With only a few chips left, Chris shoves all-in pre-flop with Q-10. Jason calls with K-5 and Greg calls with 2-4. Board was 10-9-7-7-K and Jason's higher 2-pair claimed his next victim.

Down to heads-up, Greg pushes all-in holding 8-9(c), Jason has A-8. With nothing on the board, Jason's Ace-high was enough to take out the tournament. Congratulations.

Join us on Thursday as we launch the $60 Freeze Out Tournament. One stack, One shot at the money. See you there.

Tough Climb to the top for Sammy!

Dunedin Casino Poker Turbo Tournament Winner

Tonight's tournament had a great turnout and a healthy prize pool of over $700!

23 entrants ensured that the top four players were taking home some of the cash.

Sammy C, Mark N, Stew W and Matt L were the lucky ones to battle it out for the top spots, but Mark was the first to go unfortunately. Stew went all-in pre-flop with AQ and Mark called with pocket 10's. Mark led until the turn when a second A came out a Stew had a pair of aces. The next hand Mark went all in again with his remaining chips, and wasn't strong enough to beat Stew who managed to flop a boat.

Sammy, with a series of all-ins against Stew and Matt managed to increase his stack to chip leader and taking Matt out in the process. Matt went all in pre-flop with 2J and Sam called with 10 6. The flop was K4J, which put Matt in the lead albeit very briefly. A and Q were the turn and river, which meant Sammy now had a straight. One final all-in against Stew sealed the deal for Sammy winning with his A10 and he took out 1st place! What a turn around, well done!

Ben's Boat Brings home the Bacon

We had 21 people playing in our Wednesday Tournament. With three tables, we had a tastey prize pool of over $1800.

We were reasonably quick to get to the final table, but only four lucky people made it to the money. They were Brendan N, Ben R, Chris K, Carl W.

The first to strike was Carl. Chris was all-in with K-7(h), Carl calls with 8-3o. Board showed 9-4-8-3-A and Carl's two-pair was enough to send Chris packing.

Carl then tried to continue his streak, all-in with A-8. Ben calls with A-K. But a board of A-2-9-K-Q see him go home with 3rd place.

Final hand had Brendan all-in with J-10. Ben call with a pair of ducks. The flop comes out 7-9-8. Flopping the straight looks good for Brendan, but with 8 turn and 2 river, Ben seals his spot in first with his runner runner boat.

Congratulations to our winners.

The fun continues on Thursday with our $10 Thursday Turbo Tournament. Free entry, $10 addons and rebuys. We'll see you there!

Sam's in it to win it!

poker tournament dunedin casino thursday

Tonight's Turbo Tournament was packed with both tables full. It was free entry and only $10 for rebuys and addons. It made for a very interesting tournament with the prize pool making well over the guaranteed $300.

The tournament wrapped just before midnight and the final table made for some interesting action. With 22 entrants, cash prizes were given for the top four places but the Tournament Director couldn't count for a second and thought that the fifth person out was supposed to get a prize too. I gave him a drink for my mistake. My bad.

The players battling it out for the prizes were Liam C.S, Sam C, Gavin B and Andrew A. Sam manages to take down everyone else for the top spot. First to go was Liam. Sam raised to 15K preflop and Liam shoves all in with QQ and Sam calls with AK off-suit. The flop comes out with a diamond flush draw for Sam and runner runner diamonds secures Sams win.

Next Sam took on Gavin to beat him with a full house over a pair, and after a few minutes of heads up play, Andrew unfortunately wasn't strong enough to take on Sam's pocket Queen's and win. Sam took the first place prize with two pair. Great work Sam!

Chop It

Tonight we had 19 players trying to beat each other and take home some $$$.
Final five was taking a while with no one willing to call any all ins so the players decided to give fifth place some money each. With that decision made we had a three way all in knocking out Matt and leaving Greg, Brendon, Mark and Andrew to fight it out for the real prizes.
Soon after Andrew was all in with 76 and Greg with KJ, Flop was 7K3 and not looking good for Andrew, turned a 10, rivered a 2 and Andrew left with fourth prize.
The remaining three played patiently for awhile, we had a couple of all in scenarios that ended up being chopped but no one managed to knock anyone else out. The final three decided to chop the remaining prize money between them and all went home equally happy.

Battle for the Winter Bounty Winner!

dunedin casino winter deepstack bounty tournament winner

The Winter Bounty Tournament kicked off at 12pm with players registering right up until the beginning.

With 21 players and a healthy prize pool of a little over $2,600, there were four places to be won.

At the final table we had 2 players bust out at the same time to leave 5 players in. A short while later a three-way all in left Greg S. out of the running for the cash and Ryan H. just able to hang on for one more hand to claim the fourth place, as well as three bounty's.

Gary T. was the next to go shortly afterwards when Charlotte called his all-in and managed to finish with a flush.

Playing for the top two spots were Charlotte B. and Aaron McT. after a short while of heads up trying to get the upper hand, they both remained pretty evenly matched but an all-in by Charlotte quickly changed that. Aaron called her all-in with an A7 while she had K9. With a 7 on the flop, Aaron was leading right up until the river when a K turned up. This left Aaron with only 2,500 left and was all-in again the next hand.

Unfortunately he was unable to get the better of Charlotte and lost out to 2nd place as well as three bounty's and Charlotte took out the lot. Well done!
