Third time lucky for Luke

We had 18 players in our Thursday Turbo Tournament, all playing for their share in a prize pool of over $700.

Top three places were paid. Our final three were Luke M, Jake M and Julian B. Julian was all-in with 6-7o against Jake's pocket 8s. Board was 3-10-2-10-5 and with four hearts showing, Jake's flush with the 8 was enough to beat Julian's flush with the 6.

In heads-up, Jake shoved all-in with 10-7o. Luke calls with pocket Ks. Board of Q-A-A-9-2 gave Luke the pot with 2-pair and his first tournament win. Tonight was the third time Luke had played the tournament, but it was the first time he had made it as far as the final table. Congratulations Luke.

Kev goes flett out and wins!

Tonight's tournament produced 21 of Dunedin's finest poker players, all wanting a slice of the $2000 guaranteed prize pool. The final 4 were in the money. Karl got the bubble and the final 4 were Kev, Ryan, Chris and Greg.

The chips were being exchanged around the table for a round or 2 when all of a sudden Chris goes all in with 10 9. If he didn't go all in I'm sure Greg, who called, would have with his pocket As.
2 Q 2 was flopped. Hmm may be runner, runner 10 or 9? No, just a 6 8. All of Chris' chips went to Greg and Chris finished in 4th.

Couple of hands on Kev and Ryan battle it out. Kev is stacked but helps Ryan out when he loses a hand but then 2 hands later he gets it back again and some. Kev is now chip leader and he's up against Ryan who's all in. Ryan's A 2 against Kev's A 3. Flop is 2 K 3, turn 5, river 10. Kev knocks Ryan out who finishes 3rd.

Now a showdown between Greg and Kev. Greg goes all in after the flop Q hearts 2 hearts 3. Greg has J 3 hearts against Kev's J J hearts. Turn A hearts and river 6 hearts.

Well done to Greg finishing a respectable 2nd and congratulations to Kev for taking 1st prize, almost a year to the day after winning last year. Amazing!!

Kenny finally gets his photo taken

18 people showed up to our Thursday Turbo Tournament, including several of our South African Shark friends. With a few rebuys and all but one getting a double add-on, we had a reasonable prize pool of over $600.

After a steady final table, we were down to the final three. They were Danny W, Steve M and Kenny P.

Steve was the first out, all-in with A-10. Kenny calls with A-K. Board shows 3-4-Q-6-5 and Kenny's K kicker was good enough to scoop the pot.

About 10 minutes later, Danny decided to make a move. Going all-in with 99, Kenny calls with A-5.
The flop 7-Q-J looks promising to Danny, however the only card he didn't want to see (A) came on the turn and a J on the river gave Kenny 2-pair, and the tournament win. Congratulations.

Another win for Will. Danny gets in some good cardio.

Dunedin Casino Poker $2000 guarantee Weekly Wednesday Classic points

This week we had double final table bonus points, 10 lucky players got 100 bonus points towards the leaderboard. We also had four players receive early sign up prizes, varying from a free dessert, to a free add-on. There were 23 players this week and a prizepool just over $2,300.

Top four got paid this week, but I will make a special mention for the Bubble, Danny. Out of pure chance, while balancing tables, Danny was forced to move tables five times. In the end, Danny got taken out while all in vs Greg. Danny was ahead with KJ against JT, Greg scored a full house on the turn. It was more than enough to send Danny from the table... one last time.

Greg went home with fourth place. He was all in for around two BB against Will and Brendan. When the turn came out, Will bet, Brendan folded and Will showed a flush. Greg missed both his cards.

Next out was Ketch in third. Ketch was all in on the flop and called by Will, K2 against Q7, both players had hit their under cards. 7 2 8 on the flop, the turn and river an Ace and a Five. This win brought Will to almost 2/3 chips in play.

Will and Brendan promptly came to a deal which they were both happy with, they ten played off for the remainder and the glory. Heads up lasted around 40 minutes. The final hand, Brendan shipped it with AK and was called with A3. A 3 on the flop gave Will the lead, no Kings came out and Will took the First place. J Q 3 6 9.

Short and Sweet

We had a small turnout for the Thursday Turbo Tournament tonight, with only 12 runners competing for a prize pool of over $450.

Only top three places were paid. Our final three were Miles W, Daez M and Mark N.

Miles went all-in with J-A(d). Mark calls with Q-10. The board was 2-K-4-J-Q and Mark took the pot with a pair of Q's.

Daez and Mark both went all-in blind. Mark with Q-4 and Daez with J-5. The board showed 4-Q-K-5-A so Mark took the pot and the tournament with 2-pair. Congratz

Pre-reg prizes and a 1st for Ketch.

Dunedin Casino Ketch $2000 Guarantee Weekly Wednesday Classic

This week, along with the $2,000 guarantee, we had 5 pre-reg sign up prizes. The prizes were for Club Casino members who had signed up at least a day in advance.  The prizes won this week were a complimentary desert from The Grand Bar and Cafe, a 2 for 1 meal voucher for the Grand Bar and Cafe, a limited edition drink bottle, a double addon in the Thursday Turbo tomorrow and an exclusive dc t-shirt.  It was a lot of fun so we're going to find find some new prizes to add to draw and try it again next week.

We had 22 Players this week to fight it out for the $1000 1st place.

Top four this week were, Ketch, Mark, Pete and Rayel.

Pete went home with Fourth place after he tangled with Rayel's JJ, Pete had two overs with AQ. Unluckily for Pete he didn't manage to hit, 7 6 4 T K.

Mark found himself short stacked and pushed all-in with A9. He was called by Ketch with KQ. Mark was looking good until the turn came a Queen for Ketch. 2 T 6 Q 5.

Heads up play was between Ketch and Rayel. Ketch managed to get a double up when he called Rayel's bluff  9.2, with his A3. This double up gave Ketch just over half chips in play. Soon after Ketch made another all-in call. Rayel saw an Ace and pushed with A7, Ketch turned over a strong AJ and the kickers played it out. 7 J 6 8 2, the stronger hand prevailed and Ketch took the pot and the First with a pair of Jacks.

Thanks for a great tournament, don't forget, next week there are more early sign up prizes to be won.

Ross' Hattrick

We had 22 people turn up for our Thursday Turbo Tournament. Many rebuys resulted in a prize pool of over $900.

Our final four consisted of Ross M, Damian L, Bryn N and Kenny P.
Kenny thought he was out much earlier when he was all-in with pocket 2s against pocket As. Having flopped a set, he got even luckier turning quads and keeping him in the game. He went all-in again with 10-9 but Ross' hand of A-7 was enough to take him out with a pair of As. Kenny left in 4th place.

Ross struck again when Bryn went all-in with K-3. Ross had 10-J. Board was 5-10-4-9-Q and the pair of 10s sent Bryn home with 3rd place.

In Heads-up, Damian goes all-in with K-9. Ross calls with A-6. A mediocre board of 10-8-4-5-2 gave Ross the pot with A-High and gave him his first win in a longtime. Congratulations Ross.

Peasant Produces Pocket Pair

So it went down like this tonight.

After a quiet start the tourney ended up with 28 players with extra points available for knockouts.
The tournament started conservatively for those who wanted the knock out points, waiting for their chance to pounce on those more vulnerable and willing to risk their stack. This was anyones tournament and this was an epic opportunity to increase their points for a desirable position on the leaderboard.

After a lot of pushing, shoving and knocking-out there was 5 left playing for position and 4 spots available for the money.

The Peasant, Sammy, Sung, Damien and Wong.

Finishing just outside the money was Sung who got rolled by The Peasant. This added another knockout to the 4 he already has. Not bad going for a Peasant.

Largely stacked but anything could happen with these sharks! Sharks v Peasant...game on.

The Peasant and Damian fold this hand which leaves Wong and Sammy. Sammy has Wong covered so all he needs now is to win the hand. All sorts of cards come out and the one that matters is a 10. Sammy wins with a pair of 10's and has stripped Wong of all his chips, 19K worth! Sammy all of a sudden goes from rags to riches and has earned himself some knockout points.

It is now a break. The players give themselves a chance to consult the poker gods, compose themselves and brace themselves for what could be the last round for the evening.

The 14th round starts and 2 seconds later there's a bust out. Sammy has gone all in and Peasant boy called. Why they ask? Because it's possible The Peasant could get a runner runner flush. The poker god listened to that Peasant because that's exactly what happened. Sammy finishes in a well deserved 3rd.

Heads up, Damien v The Peasant. The gods have listened to The Peasant thus far. Can they continue to deliver. We'll see this hand I guess.

Damien all in K 7 off and The Peasant calls 6 6 off. On the flop is A 10 4, all clubs. Damien has K clubs. Interesting. Turn is 8 spade, still a chance here for Damien, only slightly behind. What can a river produce? A 4 of diamond you say. Yip, that's Damien done and dusted which gives The Peasant his 7th knockout and the first place prize for the night. Well done Alex and Damien.

The Peasant would like to say a special thanks to Gavin from the Peasant Poker team.
