Coreys Cube Conquest

Eighteen players took the opportunity  to flee holiday festivities and attempt to take down the $50 cubed tournament tonight. Rebuys took the prize pool over the $2000 mark with a tasty $1030 in the champions purse.

Corey dominated the early going , bringing a formidable stack to the final table and continuing that dominance almost immediately with a double knockout when his pocket AA stood strong against Gary's QQ and Carl's JT of spades.

Danny was out in 7th and Charlotte followed in 6th when her A9 of spades was no match for the power of Corey's KQ offsuit, which made a full house. Nor was Josh's Aj offsuit, falling to Corey's 77. Corey again making a full house and again picking up the knockout.

Ross was today's bubble when his A5 offsuit failed to overtake Chris and his AK.

Chris himself was all-in facing a big ace when his KJ ran into AQ. A flop of T92 brought some hope with any picture card being enough to get the double up. Alas a 7 and a 3 was not going to do it and Chris was out in 3rd pocketing just over $400.

Heads up was Tumua and Corey. Tumua was certainly up against it with Corey having most of the chips and seemingly all the cards. Things had to come to a head and Tumua soon found himself all in and dominated with 63 and Corey with K6. A board of 2J24J was no help and Corey's K high enough to take down the comp.

A thoroughly convincing and comprehensive victory for Corey tonight. Well done.

Cube Winner has the Edge

Another exciting night of poker here at Dunedin Casino with our 3rd No Limit Hold'em $50 Cubed Tournament.  Limited to only 20 players we had 19 entries with most players take advantage of their 2 rebuy/addons.

Tonight's total prize pool came to $2565 which included a whopping 38 rebuy/addons.  Once again 1st prize was well over $1000 and the tournament paying to 4th place.

1st $1155
2nd $720
3rd $435
4th $255

With the new cubed format a few players chose not to use their final rebuy/addon just before the break but choosing to bust out then re-enter, allowing them to rebuy and addon instantly.

Down to the last table and our bubble tonight went to Chris who lost to Garry with A8, Chris with AK, flop comes 8-2-6, turn's a J and river's a 2, leaving Chris out of the money this week.

Next to go was Greg who battled his way back from under 5K to double a few times as well as steal a few blinds but was stopped by Garry again who had AQ.  Greg with KQ and the flop comes 5-7-2, turn's a 6 and river's a 4 making Garry's A good and Greg bows out in 4th winning $255.

Final 3 and Danny with T7 sees the flop with Alex holding 63.  Flop comes 8-3-T, which was enough for Danny to push all in.  Alex calls and the turn comes and its a 6!  Then the river's a 2, Alex knocking Danny out with 2 pair.  Danny taking away $435 for 3rd place.

Heads up and Alex has a slight chip advantage of around 30K.

Final hand and Alex pushes all in with A3 and Garry calls with K7.  Flop comes 7-A-8, turn's a 5 and river's an 8 giving Alex 'Dead man's hand' and the win.  Garry out in 2nd taking away $720 and Alex taking away 1st prize of $1155.

Brilliant night of poker with Alex playing his last tournament here, making the move to Auckland in the next few weeks.  One of our regular players, we all wish Alex the best of luck for 2018!

No Rebuys, No Addons, No Problem!

What a night of poker, with the prize money to go with it!

Tonight's $50 Cubed No Limit Holdem Tournament was action packed right from the start, all 20 seats available were filled right away and we had a further 3 people on the waiting list ready to go once someone busted out.

All together tonight we had 23 buy ins, with a further 38 addons and rebuys to add.  This made a total prize pool of $2745 paid between 4 players.

1st  $1235
2nd $770
3rd $465
4th $275

Down to the final table and we had Justin as our bubble tonight, out in 5th place after a massive chip advantage just after the final table formed.

In the money Andrew pushed all in with A 8 up against Liam with K Q, flop comes 2 5 J, turns a 9 and the river a 10 giving Liam his nut straight and knocking Andrew out in 4th place.  Andrew taking away $275 for his effort.

Last 3 and Dean shoves with K J, Liam again calls with pocket 5s, flop comes 7 10 7, turns an A and river a 6 making Liam's 5s good enough and taking another monster pot and knocking Dean out in 3rd.  Dean taking away $465 for his efforts.

Final 2 and we had Kirby and Liam battling for the top prize,  Kirby down to only 34K, 20% of Liams huge stack pushes all in with K 2, Liam calls with A 4, flop comes 3 3 7, turns a 2 and river a Q making Kirby's 2 good for the pot and she doubles up.

Next hand again Kirby doubles up again with 10, 10 up against Liam with K 4, flop comes 3 8 A, turns a 5 and river a J, this hand almost evening things up against the 2.

Final hand and Kirby pushes all in with A 5 up against Liam with A K, flop came A J K, turns a 10 and river a 2, Unfortunately Kirby's amazing come back was cut short with Liam hitting 2 pair and 1st prize.  Kirby taking away $770 for 2nd prize and Liam taking away a massive $1235 for 1st prize.

With only a $50 buy in and choosing not to use his rebuy or addon, this was a great effort to still take out the tourney.

Be sure to be in early to sign up next week to gurantee your seat in the Dunedin Casino $50 Cubed No Limit Holdem Tournament.

$50 CUBED UPDATE

There's always a bit of trepidation when trying a new format and last Wednesday was no different.  While overall we felt that the format worked, there were some things that we wanted to improve, and this week the following changes will be implemented.  We hope these changes improve gameplay while still retaining the essence of the Cube format.  Good luck!

1. Rebuys are now rebuys.

Last week we allowed all stacks to be purchased at any time.  We believe this slowed the action down and took a bit of pressure off some players.  This week, all rebuys will have to comply with the restriction that you have less than or equal to the starting stack of 5,000.  You will still be able to use your addon as a rebuy if you lose your first rebuy, but you will have to 5,000 or less.

2. No forfeit, but one last hand before the break.

You aren't guaranteed to keep your seat if you bust out, so offering "forfeit" would be only be useful to those not following the clock.  The old fashioned method if you were running low on chips would be to keep an eye on the time and deliberately (but legally) dump your remaining stack before the break, but we know how difficult that can be sometimes so this week we're going to give you an extra hand at the end of the level prior to the break for those who need the option.

Just to be clear, if there is a waiting list and you bust out before the break, your seat will go to someone on the list.  You will however be offered a space on the list and be guaranteed a seat after the break as they becomes available.

Also remember that if you are All-in and you are called and there is no further action, you cannot muck and you will be in contention to win the pot.

3. 10 second shot clock.

We're going to start pushing the 10 second shot clock now just to keep everyone on their toes!  Prior to the break it is to everyone's benefit that we get as many hands in as possible, so get ready for some fast thinking action!

To manage this, the Dealer will count down from 10 in their head and from 3 out loud and once reaching zero will announce "Time".  Your hand will be at risk if you do not act in time!

Exciting Start to $50 Cubed No Limit Hold'em Tournament

Tonight we had our first No Limit Hold'em $50 Cubed Tournament.  5000 chip starting stacks limited to 20 players max and only 1 rebuy and just 1 addon available per player.

17 players started straight away tonight with the new structure, and with 21 Rebuys and Addons, all together tonight's total prize pool was $1,710.

$855 for 1st
$515 for 2nd
$340 for 3rd.

Unlike the Terminator Bounty Tournaments the action was more conservative with the limited rebuy and addon's on offer.

Final table and the bubble went to new comer Tristian who shoved all in and got 2 callers.  Unfortunately for him the flop came 2 3 3 turns another 3 and river a 9, Ross show's his A high and Tristian mucks and finishes in 4th place.

Next to go was Rayel who was short stacked and shoves with KT, Alex calls with 62, flop comes 3-6-A, turns another 6 and the river a K - Rayel out in 3rd place but taking away $340 for his efforts.

Heads up and it was over pretty quick, Alex with sizable chip advantage and blinds up to 8K 16K, Ross finally gets a hand and pushes all in with A6, Alex calls with Q2.  Flop comes A-K-6 all clubs, turn a 7c and the river a deuce.  Alex's Qc good enough for a flush and our 1st Cubed winner taking away $855 for 1st place.  Ross again in the money taking away $515 for 2nd.

A fantastic start to our Decembers Cubed Tournament giving our Terminator Bounty Tournament a break over the quieter holiday period.

Peasant Pillaging People as Per usual

Tonight was the last Wednesday Terminator for the year and although we only had 16 entries there was plenty of action with 38 rebuys and 41 addons making a total prize pool of $1519.

Also up for grabs tonight was the $250 for the most bounties this month. Alex was looking good going in with 13 kills already locked up and 2nd place only having 9.

The final four were Alex M, Chris R, Dan H and Gary T with Dan being knocked on in 4th to be our bubble boy. His A5 was no match for Alex's 78 leading to the 5th kill of the day for the peasant.

In 3rd place and taking home $215 was Chris who got his Jacks in against Alex's AQ. An Ace on the flop was all that was needed for kill number 6.

Heads up between Alex and Gary only lasted a few hands with Alex using his 10-1 chip lead and no fear of shoving to his advantage. Gary ended up being all in pre-flop with 84 against Alex's 77. A 7 on the flop was more than enough and Alex had another kill giving him 8 for the night including his own.

For 2nd place Gary got $454 leaving Alex with $850 for first plus an extra $200 from bounties.

With Alex knocking out half the field tonight his total kills for the month was a massive 21 which was easily enough for him to be this months Terminator Champion earning him another $250.

November $220 Deepstack Results

Today we had 16 players and 4 re-entries giving us a prizepool of exactly $4000.

Only top three were paid which lead to a very exciting final table.

The November Nine were Mok H, Ross M, Hao, Chris R, Gary T, Tim M, Julian B, Michael G and Oliver S.

First out was Chris with his 7 card straight to the King losing to Gary's Ace high straight.
Shortly after Michael was busted out by Ross when his JQ got crushed by AQ.

Next to go was Mok who got it in with AK against Julian's 9T but couldn't hold when Julian hit a Queen high straight.

With the blinds getting high we had two quick knock-outs with Ross's 66 holding against Tim's AK and then Gary's 88 holding against Julian's KJ.

With only 4 players left there was a lot of safe play with no one wanting to be the bubble boy until Oliver shoved from the button with A2 and Hao woke up with AA in the big blind. There was a bit of a sweat for Hao with a J45 flop but he managed to dodge a 3 and take most of Oliver's stack. Gary was quick to take the rest of Oliver's chips with top pair against a flush draw.

The final three were Ross, Hao and Gary.

Out in third and taking $800 cash was Ross who shoved pre-flop with A7 and was called by Hao with 99. The board came out 59329 giving Hao quads and providing a bit of excitement for the people on the rail.

Heads up between Gary and Hao didn't last too long and was over once Hao shoved pre-flop with KQ and Gary called with A8. An Ace on the flop all but sealed Hao's fate and another on the river ended it all.

In a reverse of last month's Deepstack, Hao came 2nd taking home $1200 and Gary was our winner taking home $2000.

Slow Start But Terminator Still Gets Its Kills

Tonight's action started slowly and only had 16 players in the tournament.  However the 16 players  generated 37 rebuys and 33 addons giving a total prize pool of $1366 plus another $400 in bounty's.

1st prize tonight was a total of $685, 2nd $410 and 3rd place $275.

Down to the last table and tonight's bubble went Hao who pushed all in with 5 5 up against Vinnie with 9 9, flop comes K Q J, turns a 6 and river a 2 making Vinnie's 9s good enough and taking another bounty to add to his collection.

3rd place went to Ross T who pushed all in with A 6 up against Vinnie again with A K, flop comes 9 9 2, turns an A and river an 8 making Vinnie's A K good enough and again another bounty to his growing collection.

Heads up and both players only look at one card and Danny pushes all in with Q 4 and Vinnie snap calls with sighting only one A with a 6 to go with it.  Flop comes 6 7 A, turns a 4 and river a J making Vinnie's A good enough for the win and yet another bounty.

Danny taking away 2nd place and also 2 bounty's, giving him a total prize of $460 for the night.

Vinnie taking away $685 for 1st place and taking a record breaking 9 kills for the night and a whopping $225 for his bounty's, thats a grand total of $910 for the night.

8 Kills by Tonight's Terminator! Will She be Back??

Although tonight's action lacked the numbers, the 18 players that showed up provided more action, enthusiasm and energy than previous weeks.  With 37 rebuys and 49 addons tonight's 1st prize was $830, 2nd $500 and we only paid to 3rd with $380.  Total prize pool up for grabs was $1660 plus another $450 in bounty's.

Final table saw Chris R limp onto it with just $200 in chips, however on the button he pushes all in with the lumber jack hand (2 4) and catches two 4s on the flop and wins $1300 for the flop, just $300 short of a big blind.  Next hand Chris pushes all in with A 10 and gets 4 callers, he hits trips on the flop and quads on the turn to have just over 8000, however his come back was not meant to be knocked out the next hand!

Tonight's bubble was a double knockout by Debbie taking out Hao and Mel in the one hand for 4th and 5th place.

Down to the last 3 and Debbie pushes all in with 5 5 and Ross calls with A 2, flop comes 10 6 4, turns a 9 and the river an 8 making Debbie's 5s good enough for another bounty and Ross was out in 3rd place taking away $330 plus another $50 for his 2 bounty's.

Heads up and again Debbie pushes all in with Q 5 and Julian calls with A 9, unfortunately for Julian the flop came Q Q 8, the turn a 10 and the river a 4 knocking Julian out in 2nd taking away $500 which was a great effort with no kills for the whole night.  Debbie showing great patience through out the whole night taking away 1st prize, $830 and the most bounty's in one night with 8!  That'ts $1030 all up for the night.

A fantastic night of poker again enjoyed by all!

The Terminator does not feel Pity, Remorse or Fear!

True to the title, tonight's winner felt no pity or remorse taking out 6 bounty's on their way to victory!

Tonight's action started with only 7 players on 1 table but 10 minutes later we had 19 players battling it out on 2 tables, and it was action, action and more action.

With only 19 players we still had a massive 50 addons and 36 rebuys for total prize pool of $1671 plus another $475 in bounty's.

1st $751
2nd $470
3rd $285
4th $165

Hand of the night had to go to Gary who had A 8 up against Josh with 8 8, both were all in pre flop and the flop came A 8 A turns a K and river a 3 which didn't matter as Josh was dead on the flop.

Final table and unfortunately once again the bubble went to Noel.  Gary T was out in 4th taking away $165 which was a great effort for not taking a single bounty for him self.

Final 3 and Alex was all in with Q 3 up against Mau with A 6, flop comes K 10 2 the turns a 3 and river a 10 knocking Mau out in 3rd, but Mau takes away $285 for 3rd and $125 in bounty's.

Final 2 and it was over quick!  Lewis pushes all in pre-flop with K 10 and Alex calls with A 8, flop comes 5 9 6, turns a Q and river another 6 making Alex's A in hand good enough for the hand and the over all win and title of Terminator.  Lewis taking 2nd and $470 plus another $100 for his 4 bounty's.

Alex taking away $751 for 1st and taking a whopping 6 bounty's extending his lead to 13 on the bounty leader board.

Terminator Danny is Back!

21 Players tonight across 3 tables battled for a total prize pool of  $1948 plus another $525 in bounties.

1st $878
2nd $545
3rd $330
4th $195

46 Rebuys and 55 Addons had plenty of action right from the start with a lot of players trying to build a sizable chip stack early.

We were down to the final table very quickly with a lot of action after the break and every one after those bounty's.

Final table and Chris S Bubbled in 5th place taking away 1 bounty.

Last 4 and Alex was all in with 10, 8 up against Andrew with A K, flop came J 3 4, turns a 10 and river a 4 making Alex's 10 good enough to knock Andrew out in 4th but he took away $195 for his effort.

Next to go was Alex with J 4 up against Danny with 8 8, flop came A K 5, river an 8 giving Danny his set and the river a J.  Alex out in 3rd taking away $330 and a whopping $175 for his 7 bounty's.

Heads up and we had Danny up against Ross H.  This battle when back and forward for 30 minutes but finally Danny pushes all in with K K and Ross calls with 9 9, flop comes 8 5 K turns an
A and the river a 2 giving Danny a set and 1st prize of $878 and taking away 5 bounty's as well.  Ross taking 2nd place.

Great effort by Danny improving on his 2nd place from last Wednesday and also well done to Alex who leads the Terminator Kill leader board with 7 kills tonight.

October Deepstack Results

Dunedin Casino Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament

It was a sunny October day today! 14 players trying to get a slice of the $3,000 prize pool.

With only the top three being paid, it saw some really aggressive play and lots of chip movement.

The final four were Noel, Gary, Hao and Ray.

Only just missing out on the money was Noel. Going all-in preflop with AJ against Gary with AQ. A King came out on the flop but the rest did nothing to help either side and Gary's Q holding up to take the lot.

That left Gary, Hao and Ray to wrestle for first.

Not long after, Ray went all-in with a pair of 6's which Hao called with A3 suited. The board fell in Hao's favour to give him a Spade flush over Ray's pair. Leaving Ray in third

Hao wasn't done yet. Gary tried to go all-in with KQ and Hao had AJ. Again the board favoured Hao. 4's on the flop wasn't improved for either on the turn and river and Hao's Ace played.

Hao was the victor in the end but Gary definitely put up a good fight.

OCTOBER TERMINATOR FINALE!

Final night for Most Kills for October was decided tonight in a thrilling final table action.  We had Chris S and Gregg S equally sitting on 9 kills for October and a share of $200.  However we had Danny W who on the last table had to take out the remaining 4 players to take out the title.

13 Players started tonight for a prize pool of  $1435 plus another $325 in bounties and of course the final $200 for the kill leader board.

1st  $720
2nd $430
3rd  $285

Final table saw Ray W bubble in 4th place and take 1 bounty away.

New comer Simon was out in 3rd place up against Ross with A 7.  Flop comes K 6 4, turns a Q and river a 9, Simon's 10 7 no good and he's out in 3rd place taking away $285 and $50 in bounty's.

Final 2 saw Danny and Ross battling it out for a good 30mins with the lead changing 3 times.  Danny needing to win tonight's Tournament to put himself on top of the kill leader board and $200 richer.

Final hand saw Danny push all in with Q 3 and Ross calls with A 6.  Flop comes 5 7 Q, turns a 4 and river an 8 giving Ross a straight taking Danny out in 2nd place.  Unfortunately although a great effort by Danny he fell short on the Kill leader board by 1 and a half kills.  But he left with $430 for 2nd and also $75 in bounties.  Great effort by Ross to win taking away $720 for 1st and another $100 in bounties.

October Terminator Most Kills was a split with Gregg S and Chris S both taking 9 Kills each for October and taking $100 each.

A few hands later we had Jonathon all in with A Q up against Danny with Q J, flop comes K A 6, turns a 4 and river a J making Jonathon's A good enough for another bounty and Danny out taking 3 bounty's and $210 for 4th place.

Tonights Terminator almost Terminated

What a night of poker!  Tonights terminator was almost terminated just after the 1st break.  Down to only 3.2k in chips, tonights winner had to battle back from the dead to take 1st place.

26 players on 3 tables, a massive 63 addons and 61 rebuys made a total prize pool of $2394 plus another $650 in bounty's up for grabs.

1st $1079
2nd $670
3rd $405
4th $240

Final table and the most decisive hand of the night had to be a 3 way all in with short stacks Noel with K 10, Danny with Q Q and Greg with A A.  Flop comes 4 6 5, turns another 6 and the river an 8 giving Greg a descent stack at the final table and a double knock out taking 2 bounty's.

A few hands later Greg again is all in with K K up against Andrew with 6 6, flop comes A 3 10, turns another A and river an 8 doubling Greg up and taking another bounty.  Andrew out in 4th.

Final 3 decide to do a deal sharing $675 each leaving $129 to play for 1st.

Gary was out in 3rd shoving with 8 7 and got snapped called by Greg with K J, flop came 9 Q 10 giving Greg a straight of the flop and Garry no hope and was out in 3rd and taking 4 bounty's.

Final hand had Daez shove with K 9 and Greg again called with 4 4, flop comes 2 Q 7, turns a 5 and river an 8 making Greg's 4's good enough for the win.  Daez out in 2nd taking 4 bounty's.  But huge play by Greg coming back from only 3.2k in chips to take the overall win and take a massive 6 bounty's.

A great night of poker enjoyed by all and again proving that your not out until all your chips are gone!

Terminator Shum.

Tonight's action at 7.45pm started with only 5 players but 15minutes later we had 27 players battling it out for a total prize pool of $2320 plust $675 in bounties.

Even though the rebuy and addons were down from last weeks action, 1st prize was still paying over $1000 at $1045, 2nd $650, 3rd $395 and 4th $230.

Final table and the most deciding hand of the night was Chris S taking a monster pot on the final table.  Allan H goes all in with A 4, Hao raises to $12k, Chris re raises to 40k with Q J and Hao calls, flop comes Q 3 8 and Chris pushes all in and Hao reluctantly folds.  Turns a 6 and rivers a 3 giving Chris Allan's bounty and a pot of over 100k and now a massive lead over the rest of the field.

With this massive chip advantage Chris easily cruised to the win taking blind after blind and chipping away at the other players.  He took the most bounties tonight with 8 in total!  A great play by Chris putting him ahead on the bounty leader board.

Results were:  4th Hao, 3rd Martin, 2nd John B and of course Chris in 1st place.

Last to arrive, last to leave.

Today we had 21 people turn out for the September deepstack playing for a prize pool just short of $5000.

Dan managed to get out of bed and rocked up with twenty minutes to spare now everyone else wishes he kept sleeping.

Down to the final five we had a three way all in. Andy went all in with pocket eights, Tristan called with pocket aces and Dan with the biggest stack called with JK. Board is 6J9K4 and Dan successfully knocks out two people for the second time today and Tristian scores the fourth place prize.

Final three is Dan, Todd and Adam. Todd makes a move first pushing all in with JT and Dan calls with KQ. Unfortunately for Todd the board doesn't run in his favour, with a king on the turn sealing his fate in 3rd place.

Final hand Adam is all in with Q2 of spades up against Dan with A7. The flop comes T67 with a spade, and the turn bringing in a flush draw to make sure there was a sweat for the 2k. With the river bricking out, Dan holds on to take out the tourney.

Judgement Day!

What a Night of Poker!  We started tonight's action with only 8 players, 5 minutes later we had a line of players rearing for action and all of a sudden we had 26 players on 3 tables.

78 Rebuys and 66 addons pretty much summed up the nights action.  Total prize pool tonight was $2734 plus $650 in Bounties.  1st prize was a whopping $1230, 2nd $765, 3rd $465 and 4th received $275.

Some amazing all in hands throughout the night but down to the final table we had a new comer Craig who was our bubble tonight out in 5th place.

Jeremy was out in 4th place who pushed in with 7 7 up against Michael with A 9, an A fell on the flop to give Michael a pair of A's and Jeremy was out in 4th with $275 but also had a whopping 7 bounties under his belt taking away another $175 on top.

Next to go was Ray with J 8 up against Michael again with 7 9, a 7 fell on the flop giving Michael a small pair and Ray was out in 3rd taking away $465 plus a single bounty to his name.

Final 2 and the show down was on.  Chris Roy chasing his 3rd Terminator Title up against the final table assassin Michael G!  The action went back and forward for about 15 minutes until Chris won a huge pot of over 200,000 with Q 6 up against Michael with 9 9, Flop came Q A K, turns a J and river a 4 giving Chris a monster pot and Michael severely short stacked.  Forced to push, Michael goes all in on his 20k big blind with 6 3 up against Chris's K 8, flop comes 2 10 Q, turns a 7 and river a Q making Chris's K in hand good enough to take 1st place and also 5 bounty's.  Michael taking 2nd prize and 3 and half bounty's.

A great night of poker wrapping up September's Wednesday Terminator Bounty Month.  Winner of the Most Kills for September will be announced soon.

Well done Chris for taking out his 3rd Terminator Tourny!

Tonight's Action only paid to 4th giving Greg our prestigious bubble title and 5th place and taking away 3 bounty's on the way.

Peter was out in 4th giving him $190 and 4 bounties.

Thrilling Start to September's Terminator Bounty Tournament

Another thrilling Terminator Bounty Tournament tonight started with 28 players.  Although the night got off to a slow start with not too many rebuys, by the break there were 66 and 61 Addons making a total prize pool of $2,467.  Add to that 28 bounty's all worth $25 giving us a prize pool of $3,167.

Final table action saw Martin with A5 up against Andrew with 22.  Nothing fell giving Martin the prestigious title of bubble.

A couple of hands later we had a monster 3 way all in, Michael G with A5, John B with JJ and Jonathon with A10, flop came J-4-3 and 9-6 giving John B trips and a monster pot and another bounty knocking Michael G out in 5th.

Next Andrew busted out with Q4 up against Hayden with K9, Flop came J-7-9 giving Hayden a pair, turns another 9 and rivers a 6.  Andrew A out in 4th place taking away $220 and also 3 bounty's.

Final 3 players decide to do a deal making it a 3 way split leaving $170 in the pot for 1st prize.

Next hand Hayden pushes all in with TT and Jonathon calls with 33.  Hayden hits his set off the flop and Jonathon exits in 3rd place taking away roughly $634 for his deal and also 4 bounty's.

Heads up and final hand, Hayden has K9 up against 26s, flop comes K-7-5, turns a J and river a T, Hayden again taking out the Wednesday night Terminator Tournament with a pair of Ks.

WHAT'S ON IN SEPTEMBER?

THE WEDNESDAY TERMINATOR AND $200 MONTHLY KILL BONUS

Due to popular demand, we're keeping the Wednesday Terminator going through September, and we're going to go ahead with another Monthly Terminator bonus of $200 for the most kills.  There are only 4 weeks in September so it could be over after the first few weeks if you're not careful!  Conditions apply.

CASH GAMES - $40 NLH

As most of you will already know, we are now aiming to grow our poker room by focusing on $40 no limit hold'em.  It should be a lot more amenable to walk-ins, casuals and new players, so don't forget to spread the word and bring your mates with the promise they won't be out of their depth.

SEPTEMBER DEEPSTACK - 1PM SATURDAY 30 SEPTEMBER

Our next deepstack has been set for Saturday 30 September, just under 4 weeks away.  $200 +$20 this time will make the prize pool slightly better to look at, only needing 25 players to reach our estimated prize pool of $5,000.

LIMIT CHANGE!

Please be advised we are changing our limits and from now on will focus exclusively on the following:

No Limit Hold'em

Buy-in $40 - $200

Blinds $1/$2

To avoid any doubt and misunderstanding, this means that we will no longer provide Omaha, Pineapple or Manila variations to be played, regardless of player consensus.  This rule applies solely to cash games, while tournaments may vary.

We understand it is a significant change and we hope our regular players take the opportunity to embrace it and encourage their friends and collegues (who are usually put off by scary games and limits), to come in and give it a go!

For our regulars who we know will miss some of their favourite variations such as pineapple, we just wanted to offer the following reasons to clarify what we are trying to achieve.

First and foremost it is a business decision based on the evidence that certain variations and limits simply do not have enough players to sustain it, and when played at almost every opportunity, (including busy rugby weekends for example), it is cutting out walk-ins and further reducing the player pool. With a reputation of consistently being leveraged into omaha, it makes it difficult for newer players to even consider visiting.

Rather, we believe it is in everyone’s best interests for us to embrace a more casual, mainstream player, and unfortunately being able to offer a range of games and limits (which ultimately results in omaha being played) does not help us achieve this goal.

In contrast, Hold’em is the most ubiquitous poker variation in existence today, and perfectly aligns with our intentions to provide a sustainable poker game that appeals to the widest audience.

With regards to the limits, we feel the range is fair, it caters to both entry level players as well as the those with a little more time and money to spend.  100 big blinds is the standard buy-in for a game of this size.  We realise this may preclude any "high stakes" action for the time being, but these games are also not common enough to warrant losing new players.

We don't expect it to magically make our poker room full every night, but it will definitely stop turning players away and will have a much greater chance of success in the long term.

Regards,

DCPoker

With the final Bounty tournament of  August giving players one more chance to increase their number of kills and takeaway another $250 for the most kills in August.

Straight to the final table we had our top 5 money makers.

  • Aaron taking $150 for 5th and $100 through Bounties
Kirby unfortunately got flopped dead by Daniel who pushed all in with 4 4 against Kirby's J 9,  Flop came 4 2 4 giving Daniel Quads off the flop knocking Kirby out in 4th taking $195 cash and one bounty.

"You're not Short Stacked if you know what you're Doing"

30 Players started tonight, and it was action straight from the start with rebuy after rebuy.  67 Rebuys and 75 addons in total making a prize pool of  $2744 plus another 30 bounty's up for grab, all worth $25 each.  That's a grand total of $3494.

Final table saw Greg bubble with KK up against Zane with AK, an A fell on the turn giving Zane his pair and Greg out in 6th.

Down to our last 3 players we had Jason at a massive short stack on 37k, Hayden holding 140k and Zane in control with over 200k.

Not fazed by his short stack, Jason said "Your not short stacked if you know what your doing"  And right he was!

Jason doubles up with KK up against Jason's JJ.  Flop turn and river were no help for Hayden.  A few hands later Jason pushes all in with 55 and Hayden calls with AK, flop comes 7 2 7 turns a 6 and the river a 5 giving Jason a boat and another bounty.  Hayden leaving in 3rd place and taking away 4 bounties and $410.

Final 2 players do a deal and play the last hand blind with Jason's 57 up against Zane's 47.  Flop comes Q 2 6,  turns a 8 and the river a 4 giving Zane his pair however giving Jason his straight and overall winner taking away 1st prize of $1184 and 5 bounties as well.

True to his word Jason was never short stacked as he knew what he was doing.

Terminating the Competition

24 would be terminators geared up tonight. We had a prizepool of $2,100 plus $600 of bounties in the mix.

Top four got paid out this week, we had; Hayden, Alex, Josh and Daez.

Blinds 2k/4k. Josh raises to 8.5 on the SB, Hayden pushes all in, Josh calls. Hole cards;  Josh AJ, Hayden KQ. The Queen came on the flop for Hayden. Josh got an extra chance with a guttie on the turn. King on the river scored Hayden two pair ftw.  Board: 2 Q 3 5 K.

Top 3 played out for around 30 minutes, once stacks balanced out, a deal was made (even split, with a bonus $150 for 1st). With uncertainty out of the way, the tournament promptly concluded.

Alex pushed all in with Q9. Hayden was sitting in ambush, he called with AK. Alex's chances got worse after the flop, Hayden hitting trip Kings against two nines. The turn was a blank... The river was a 2nd nine. Alex rivers a full house nines over Kings, Hayden's Kings over nines took the pot. 9 K K 4 9.

Top two both went in blind. Hayden: Hayden with A8 in Clubs vs Daez with A3 in Spades. community cards: 9 7 2 5 6. Hayden hit a straight on the river (8 high was also good).

Terminator Leaderboard Update 2

After week two, the unknown Hayden has taken out 11 players to hit the lead in his first outing.  Is this a man or a machine, and will his form carry him through to win the monthly prize.  Only time will tell at this point.

Returminator Roy

We had a solid turnout this week of 31 players, the prize pool got to $1,990 with 31 x $25 bounties in the mix.

After the break, the field thinned quickly, balancing tables seemed to be like sending lambs to the slaughter.

Top 5 this week were: Julian, Chris, Hayden, John and Todd.

Julian was the short stack, he pushed for 7k, Todd followed suit, all in for 20k.  Hayden, with both players covered, called.  Julian QQ, Todd J8 and Hayden holding KQ.  Julian was looking even stronger after a flop of 6-4-5.  Then the turn came out a 2 giving everyone a gutshot!  But no, the river a K and Hayden scoops!

John managed to go under the radar on final table, holding the small stack without any bounties.  Everyone seemed to be falling around him but before he knew it he was sitting in 3rd place.  The bet made it to 36K pre from Hayden, John called and Chris folded.  Hayden pushed on a flop of 3-6-7 and John called.  98 against K9.  Open ender with a flush draw against the King overcard (no paired hole cards). 7 and 4 on the turn and river, Hayden takes the pot with a flush, securing heads-up and another bounty.

Chris and Hayden had a big exchange of power when Chris took around 70% off Hayden's stack in a previous hand.

The final hand however began with 6K/12K Blinds, Chris pushed on the SB and Hayden called.  Chris could have been testing his luck with stealing blinds... or just feeling lucky?  Chris rolls over 84 against Hayden's Q9.  A snowman, the first card out, 8-3-T the flop!  A six on the turn gave Hayden a gut shot, but a 5 on the river gave Chris the win.  Well done to Chris for impressive back to back wins and a justified 7 kills this week.

Hayden performed strongly throughout the tournament, managing to accumulate 11 bounties, kick starting himself to #1 Terminator after two weeks.

He'll Be Back!

There were 23 players this week in our first Wednesday Terminator Bounty Tournament.  The prizepool got to $2,050, with $575 in knockouts available for the taking.

Dan H, Daez, Jason, Troy and Chris R were our top 5 this week.

We sat on the bubble this week for over an hour until we got to the cash. Troy got 35k all in and was called by Dan. Troy with A9 up against QT. The flop was T 3 A to pair both players.  Troy sitting pretty with top pair, but the turn came another Ten delivering Troy a raw deal.

An interesting hand quickly followed the knockout of the bubble... Daez blind bet 50k UTG, Jason calls for 40k, Chris pushes for 70k. Daez K6, Jason 77 and Chris with 88. The flop ran out: 4 K 6 (two pair for Daez). The turn brightened up Jason's day and delivered him a set of 7's. The river a Jack. Jason takes out the main pot with a set of 7's, Daez takes the side pot for 20k, and Chris gets 20k chips back.  4 K 6 7 J on the board.

Daez got the rest of his stack in against Jason, A4 vs 42. Jason flopped a pair of 2's, the turn was a blank. A four on the river hit both players hole cards, but gave Jason two pair to make that the end of Daez. J 2 7 K 4 on the board.

Chris managed to take a majority of Jason's chips before Jason and Dan got their cards face up. Dan was all in for just under the BB (blinds 8k/16k), Jason had him just covered. Dan holding 83 against K7. With Q 2 9 A Q on the board, K high was good for Jason and Dan was erased.

Chris pushed into the shorter stack with Q7, Jason called with KT. A Queen on the flop gave the last action hero the win, with the turn and river of no consequence. 4 4 Q 8 3.

Although managing to avoid termination on several occasions himself, Chris managed to come out on top, claiming just the one kill of second place!  A special mention to Jason and Dan however, who both racked up an impressive 6 kills each!!!

Thanks to everyone who turned up to try something new, we hope to see you back next week.

And don't forget our $250 bonus for the best Terminator for the month.  Here's the tally so far:

Name Kills
Daniel H. 6
Jason S. 6
Daez 3
Chris R. 2
Will S. 1
Roy W. 1
Gary T. 1

Dan Wins Again!

Tonight we had  a good turn out with 31 players showing up to play for the $2500 prize pool.

Final five was Dan H, Alex, Corey, Dan G and Todd who all went home with warm feet after winning some bonus socks.

Taking fifth prize was Todd. He had pocket 7's up against Alex with AQ. Alex hit his King on the flop and it held.

Corey was next to shove with 58 off suit. Dan G called with AQ, the board was KJ653 knocking Corey out.

Down to the final three, Dan H raised to 25000 with AT, Alex went all with 114000 holding K8, Dan G called 41000 with KQ which Dan H called. The board was J4Q75 sending Alex packing.

Heads up Dan v Dan, Dan G shoves with Q6 called by Dan H with A5. No one hit and a pair of nines with an ace  kicker was enough for Dan H to take out another tournament.

Flushing The Competition

The Tournament filled out with two tables and 20 entrants this week. The prizepool sat just under $2,000.

Top 4 this week went to; Pete, Chris S, Martin and Tai.

Martin called a push from Pete with very close stacks. Hole cards: Pete 52, Martin A7. The board came out 3 K T 6 K. It was revealed how close the stacks were after a count ($100 change for Pete).

All in for a partial Ante', Pete got isolation from Tai holding KQ(sp) against K3. Tai flopped a flush, Pete tried his best to catch up (to no avail), hitting two pair on the turn. (3 J A(sp)) K 2.

Chris pushed UTG for 111k chips, Tai pushed for 50k on the SB, Martin folds 77's on the BB. Hole cards: Tai 99, Chris K8(cl). The flop came out; 6(cl) 7 A (Martin did not regret his fold too long), Turned 2(cl), River J(cl). Chris knocks out 3rd place with the 2nd nuts.

Chris and Martin exchanged a few blinds sizing each other up. Final hand: Chris called the BB for 12k, Martin checked. 2 (6 5(sp)) came out on the board, Martin pushed, Chris called. Martin held 10 5(middle pair), Chris had 98 in spades (flush draw). The turn delivered a Queen... And do did the River... A Queen of spades!  Another flush, another knockout. Well played!

Winter Wightout

We had a modest turnout this week (snow). Top 3 were paid a stake of $1275.

Peter went head to head pre with Greg, Peter A7, Greg J9. The board ran out without hitting any hole cards, sending Greg home as the bubble this week. 4 3 K T 8.

Peter had been building up his stack for a couple of hands. Peter seeked blood from Ray, who had stolen a BB off Peter earlier (an important BB).  Peter pushed pre-flop with K4, Ray called with the hand which cannot lose, 22. Flop came out 7 7 2! The King on the turn gave a sweat for Ray, promptly ended by an Ace on the river.

Ray and Todd were the top two this week. Todd had made an epic climb from 4BB's around an hour earlier, he now stood the big stack. The first heads-up hand was the final hand. Ray pushed on the Button with Q9, he got called by Todd with 77. The board flopped a pair of 6's, T 6 6. The turn paired the board once more when another Ten came out. The river was an anticlimactic 3.

Thanks to everybody who made it this week!

Dan Wins!

Tonight we had 21 players playing including a few new faces.
Andrew, Dan, Rayel and Todd outlasted the rest and took home some of the $1500 prize pool.

Fourth place went to Andrew, Dan got it in real bad with 8Q against Andrews pocket tens. Dan hit his queen on the flop which held.

Next we had a flop of 72T all spades, turn was a 4 of clubs then river 5 of spades. Rayel shoves and Dan calls with the ace of spades in his hand and knocks Rayel out.

Final two and Dan has Todd stacked, Dan goes all in with pocket tens and Todd calls with K4, this time tens are good and Dan takes the win.

Congratulations to the winners. Hope to see you next week!

Heads up Battle

22 players and a prizepool of $1,900 this week with 370k tournament chips in play.

In the top four we had: Mau, Kieran, Danny and Josh B.

After the bubble top 4 played it out for around 20 minutes before 4th place was claimed. Danny and Kieran saw the flop without any aggression pre.  Danny bet out the min on a 7 8 9 board, he was raised all in by Kieran, Danny called. Danny was holding the nut straight (JT) up against Kieran with top pair (93). Without a runner runner, Kieran took home 4th place.

Josh found himself on the SB with a 2BB stack and pushed with 96 in the hole. Mau on the BB called him with 42. Mau hit his two in the window and it held up against Josh. Community: 7 J 2 Q A.

Danny and Mau played out heads up for the best part of an hour. About 30 mins in, the two found themselves equally stacked and made a deal. The two were still playing it out for the glory and the extra $125. Danny bet out for $30K and was confronted by an all-in, Danny called. On the board we had 9 7 5 with two spades. Danny had A2 (suited in spades), Mau had T5 (pair of 5s). A queen came out on the turn, it was followed by an Ace on the river. Danny takes it out with a pair of Aces.

Well done to all who cashed this week, also a thank you to everybody who came and played this week.

Mok at the Top

A quiet afternoon of poker at Dunedin Casino saw 13 players come and play the PLO 6-Max Deepstack Tournament. All of them after their share in the 2.3K prize-pool.

After a slow and steady tournament, we made a final table. Top four were Danny W, Zane L, Mok H and Matt S.

The first two to battle it out were Danny and Matt. In the red corner was Matt with A-8-9-K, and in the blue corner was Danny with A-J-10-K. Danny raised pre-flop, Matt shoved, Danny called.
Board was 8-6-9-4-5 and Matt's 2-pair took the win.

Next to take a stab at it, was Zane. Having lost a few decent pots previously, he was bottom stack and shoved all-in pre-flop with 6-J-K-Q. Matt called with Q-3-A-3. The board showed 7-5-10-9-7 and Matt's 3's were enough to take out another opponent.

Last two in the ring were Matt and Mok. There was a bit of back-and-forth for a while, but a few heavy blows by Mok saw Matt's pile getting smaller. Matt eventually shoved pre-flop with 6-5-6-10, Mok with Q-10-4-7. Board was Q-K-3-3-8 and Mok's 2-pair knocked-out Matt and he took the victory.

Thanks to all those that came and played and congratulations to our winners

His to Win

28 players and a prize pool of $2,100.

Top five got paid this week: Todd, Chris S, Henry, Greg and Danny.

Danny pushed for 10k and got the call from Chris. Danny with KK against QT. Danny flopped his set, Chris turned his straight, no boats on the river. Community cards: A K 4 J Q.

Next to get it all in against Chris was Todd, he pushed all in for 32k. Todd with A5 vs A9. The flop J 3 3, the turn paired Todd, the river out paired Todd with a 9. A 3 3 5 9.

Chris raised UTG to 18k, Harry called shy of the full amount. 8T up against 44. A ten in the window left Harry in need of a 4... No such 4 arrived.. J T 3 9 8, Chris winning with two pair, Harry taking 3rd.

Greg and Chris played it out heads up. Chris had a chip lead of around 40:1, despite this, some surprisingly chaotic hands:

Greg was all but all in on the BB 6/8k chips. Chris Pushed him all in for his last chips, Chris with J5, Greg holding 98. Greg flopped a pair on the flop, rivered two pair and finally flopped a boat on the 7 Q 9 8 9 board.

the next action we had was Greg pushing on the SB with K2, called by Chris with 44. 3 A K T 2 gave Greg two pair and around 30k chips.

Chris pushed, Greg calls, A3 vs KQ. The flop gave Chris an open ender, the turn a seven high straight, the river an 8 high straight (Counterfeit split). 4 5 7 6 8.

Greg pushed into Chris with 95, some time passed, Chris made a loose call with KK. T J 2 K 6, dead on the turn.

Well done to Chris on a dominating the tournament, also to Greg for staying in the chase until the end!
